12 Principles of Animation

1 Squash & Stretch

Gives flexibility to objects. The volume stays consistent while shape changes to create illusion of weight and fluidity.

2 Arcs

Natural movements follow curved paths rather than straight lines, creating a more organic feel to the animation.

3 Timing & Spacing

Controls the speed and feel of the action. Fast movements appear energetic, while slow ones appear lethargic.

4 Follow Through

Parts of the body continue to move after the character has stopped, creating a more natural and fluid motion.
