Common Insect-Derived Ingredients
Carmine (E120)
A red food coloring derived from cochineal insects. Commonly used in candies, yogurt, and cosmetics.
Shellac (E904)
A resin secreted by the lac bug, used as a glazing agent in candies and pills.
Confectioner's Glaze
Another name for shellac, used to give a shiny coating to candies and pills.
